BHOPAL
With only a few weeks to go before the crew set off to India, the prep continues, vigorously – especially for the special affects, under the supervision of our Production Designer Sylvain Nahmias, most of which will happen ‘in camera’. The smoke, generated from the chemical explosion has to be ‘just’ the right coppery colour and consistency to hover about 3 feet from the ground. Shooting so close to Monsoon will create it’s own issues, as the smoke will disintegrate more quickly in higher temperatures. Thus most of the concentrated smoke affects will be shot late in the day and the evening (luckily, this is when the actual explosion occurred!). In the era of CGI, it is hugely exciting to be part of such a set-located special affects film.
